Life Sciences is a fast-growing part of our business. Optum has set up a new business unit, based in Ireland, to serve this segment. Our Technology team, the Optum Product Engineering Nexus (OPEN) are looking for a Senior Data Modeler to help shape new products and services we will offer to the market via this new business unit.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic or Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Understand the data needs of the company

  • Collaborate with the Product management, Data Engineering, UI Team to design and build the database models appropriate to the use case

  • Understand modelling techniques such as Kimbal, Data Vault 2.0

  • Use Data Modelling tools such as ER Wind/ Power Designer/DBT

  • Identifying and recommending new ways to save money by streamlining data models

  • Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced SQL Experience

  • Experience of Data Warehousing, Kimbal, Data Vault, Tabular Data

  • Agile Experience

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and creative design abilities

  • Good written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong capacity for Abstract thinking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake

  • Knowledge of DBT

  • Knowledge of Python

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills.

  • Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people, and projects simultaneously.
