**This is a remote position open to residents of British Columbia only**
Our goal at Kano is to build long-lasting player-centric gaming experiences. We're a small team where the code you write gets deployed fast. We are looking for a Junior Software Developer to help us deliver a world-class gaming experience to our millions of players worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include: software development, testing, code quality, release, and post release management. You'll have opportunities to learn, to grow, to fail, and to succeed as a Software Developer, where the code you write makes an impact on our games!

You'll be working on:
  • Implementing gameplay features that players interact with and enjoy every day
  • Full-stack development, moving between front and backend to support the systems that you build
  • Solving gameplay problems and challenges with a performance-focused mindset
  • Monitoring dashboards, logs and metrics to ensure gameplay stability
  • Working closely with small development teams to continuously release well organized and documented code
  • Collaborating with product, design, and creative teams to help us build towards world-class live products

Your background should include:
  • Passionate about building amazing product and ability to collaborate in a small team and take ownership
  • Good programming, problem solving and communication skills
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience and knowledge in PHP, Javascript, CSS, HTML
  • Familiar with MySQL / MongoDB
  • Full-stack development experience
  • Familiar with software design practices
  • Familiar with Agile Scrum, and continuous delivery
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field

It would be a big plus if you have:
  • Professional or hobby experience in game development, or game related projects
  • Professional experience with an Object Oriented language (Java, C#, PHP, C++, Python, Javascript, etc)
  • Professional or hobby experience in native mobile development (Objective-C or Swift on iOS, Java or Kotlin on Android)
  • Experience with automated testing (unit testing, integration testing)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with Unix (Linux and/or MacOS) environments
  • Experience with relational databases and database concepts
