The Role:

We are looking for a self-driven Data Engineer to join our "IC" team and to lead our efforts to model, collect, cleanse and load the data our platform uses to help make as many data driven decisions as possible for our internal insights team and data scientists as well as for our customers. You'll be working closely with product and engineering to build out the infrastructure, pipelines and applications necessary to integrate into BI tools and visualizations to deliver actionable insights in real time. As our data engineer, you'll have free reign to research the best tools for the job and lay the groundwork for all our data efforts, while mentoring our engineers in best data practices.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead our data engineering efforts, working with our insights team, data scientists and back end developers to build out our analytics pipeline and new data centric applications
    • Design and develop a well-tested data infrastructure for our data collection and processing pipelines
    • Optimize current data models, queries and build out ETL processes where necessary to meet goals
    • Instruct in best practices as well as research best in class tooling for data engineering efforts

Requirements:


  • 4+ years’ experience as a software engineer, data engineer, or related field
    • Experience in Python, Java or Scala with an emphasis on data management and processing (ETL, data cleansing, transformation, etc.)
    • Advanced working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, MySQL preferred
    • An understanding of data model design, database schemas, and optimizing database applications
    • Experience using profiling tools and debuggers to make performance level improvements
    • A test-driven mindset with experience using tools and frameworks to validate code
    • Familiarity with NoSQL environments and large-scale databases would both be a plus
    • Knowledge of data visualization tools would also be a plus
    • Experience with Amazon AWS, DevOps and Automation would a strong plus
