A career that will deliver change. Together, we can help Britain achieve net zero.

Join our Data and Technology Graduate programme and you can make an immediate impact, powering the nation today, whilst helping to build a sustainable energy future for tomorrow.

"Every day is a learning experience, everyone is very friendly and this creates a great working environment.”
Chris Willcock, Data & Tech Graduate

What is the Data and Technology Graduate scheme?

It’s a hugely exciting time to join EDF as we transition to a low carbon and smart energy future.

We’re looking for graduates with a passion for using data, analytics, and software engineering skills, as well as influencing skills and commercial drive to solve complex problems.

On this 2-year Data & Technology Scheme you’ll participate in a curated programme designed to introduce you to a series of tools and techniques to develop you as a data scientist or software engineer. You’ll gain valuable experience and build your confidence whilst deciding where you’d like to specialise in the future.

Training, development and support for you:

We’re passionate about your development and offer a tailored training path that will help develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours, both during the scheme and in your future career.

Right from the start, your work will have impact and you will contribute to help Britain achieve net zero. For example, you might be part of the team that manages a tool called Energy Hub which uses Smart meter data to help residential customers understand their energy consumption. You might also build tools used 24/7 by our traders to forecast customer demand, dispatch our power stations, or optimise our trading strategies, all using real-time data.

During the course of this programme, you’ll learn industry leading technologies, platforms and concepts including:

  • Data Engineering / Science – Big Data, data lakes, Tableau, Python and data manipulation with Pandas, plus TensorFlow, Hadoop and Spark
  • Software Engineering – Full software delivery lifecycle; designing, building, testing, deploying and running cloud native applications using serverless technologies, using a range of languages including: JavaScript/Typescript, GoLang and Python.
  • DevOpsCloud technologies and concepts, AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and build/test automation, operational alerting/monitoring and instrumentation.

At the end of the graduate programme we’ll support you in deciding how you want to progress your career within EDF.

Head to www.edfenergy.com/careers/graduates for more information about the scheme structure, our culture and Graduate life at EDF.

Where you’ll work:

To get the most from our training during the programme you’ll be moving around our sites to experience our diverse business. We’ll be on hand with practical and financial support when you relocate. We offer a great work/life balance to support people’s personal lives whilst giving them the opportunity to network and learn.

What you’ll need to apply:

  • 2:2 Bachelor’s Degree or higher (obtained or expected) in any discipline, although STEM or other highly numerate degree preferred
  • A passion for data, manipulating and interrogating it to derive meaning and value
  • Strong interest in technology and staying abreast with the latest tools and techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and thrive in Agile work environments

We use a strengths-based selection process so that you can show us what you enjoy, as well as what you’re good at, because we believe that our individual strengths are at the heart of engagement and motivation to succeed and perform whilst at work. You’ll find tips and advice about the application process and assessment centre dates on our Graduate web pages.

Pay, benefits and culture:

  • Starting salary of £31,000
  • 25 days’ annual leave
  • Market-leading pension scheme
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Flexible benefits package
  • Wellbeing, physical and mental health support services

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

If you’re passionate about tackling climate change, our Data & Tech Graduate programme offers you the opportunity to develop an exciting career whilst helping progress the UK towards a Net Zero future.
