We're looking for an awesome Junior Physicist | Photonics to join our team on our journey to revolutionize personalized medicine

About your Role / What will you be doing?

On Biophotonics:

  • Providing key expertise on system performance and operational requirements, analyzing operational data to evaluate operations, processes, or products.

  • Programming of control systems and user interfaces for optical systems (C#, python)

  • Development, fabrication, and characterization of lensed optical fibers and other types of fiber tips

  • Analyze, fabricate, or test fiber-optic links (test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment; fabricate devices or components).

  • Planning and implementation of experiments for the characterization of optical fiber systems and sensors for biological applications.

  • Maintenance of Optoelectronics Equipment (Lasers and drivers, Photodetectors, DAQs, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, among others)

Supporting Product Development:

  • Prospection and Acquisition of optoelectronics equipment

  • Testing and debugging prototypes - assist in the transition of photonic prototypes to production

Other Functions:

  • Document experimental, R&D, and design processes including objectives, issues, and outcomes (prepare procedural documents and reports)

  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, continue education, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field. Update technical knowledge.


Job Description


Requirements ✔️

  • PhD in Physics, Photonics Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with optical fibers, laser systems, optics, electro-optics, circuits, and data acquisition interfaces.

  • Experience with data processing in Python and Matlab.

  • Experience with C/C++, and/or C# programming languages.

  • Experience in an optical lab setting.

  • Experience with spectroscopy, Raman, FTIR, or other types of scattering-based techniques.

  • Experience in working in biophysical applications.

  • Automation of optical characterization and test equipment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronics, components, and circuitry.

  • Track record of scientific excellence, critical and creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and multitasking

  • Team player and capable of integrating a multidisciplinary and dynamic team

  • Fluent in English, with strong writing and communication skills.

  • Has a high level of motivation, self-organization, multi-tasking, and analytical skills. Work with a sense of urgency in driving projects and sets ambitious goals

Nice to have:

  • Experience with optical fiber sensors

  • Experience hardware communication interfaces.

  • Experience in optical theoretical simulations using dedicated software

  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
