We are currently seeking experienced Matchmove Artists to join our growing team.

Employment period: ASAP start, short to long term contracts available
Location: Brisbane, Australia. These positions are open to Australian and international applicants.

Position Overview
RSP is undertaking complex work on sequences for several high-profile feature films. We are seeking a professional Track, BodyTrack & Matchmove artists with extensive live-action experience to commence immediately. Applicants should be fully conversant in 3DEqualizer and competent working with multiple VFX disciplines in a feature film pipeline.

In this role you will be required to accurately track and matchmove organic and hard surface physical objects in 3DEqualizer. Your precise work will be fundamental to ensuring photo real geometry and effects can be seamlessly integrated into live action plates. Speed and accuracy are paramount.

A deep understanding of physical camera attributes and the spatial relationship between a large number of assets will underpin your success.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate camera solves and body tracks that meet creative & technical shot briefs while maintaining strict on time delivery.
  • High ability to deliver DigiDouble matchmoves for full CG augmentation.
  • Demonstrate progress through the regular submission of work in progress and daily updates.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple shows and be proactive on meeting deliveries.
  • Work with riggers to define the exact needs of the matchmove rig.
  • Clearly communicate with production any delays or obstacles that may impact your schedule.
  • Ensure shot layout, orientation and continuity line up with scene requirements.
  • Adapt and make necessary changes to tracked data as the brief evolves.
  • Provide QA sanity checks of tracks and matchmoves prior to delivery.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-years feature film experience using Maya & 3d Equalizer.
  • Ability to quickly identify plate features suitable for tracking, adjusting points where necessary.
  • Solid understanding of Maya cameras.
  • Experience working with LIDAR and other on set data.
  • Knowledge of Python/Mel Scripting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic animation principles.
  • Complete understanding of lens calibration, camera orientation & projection, focal length and distortion.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving tough matchmoves on actors.
  • Experience with standard VFX software such as Nuke, PFTrack, SynthEyes and MatchMover a plus.
  • Real world understanding of proportion, depth, scale, and physical space.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Technical and creative problem solving with a can-do mindset.
