Who are we?

We are the Group Data & Analytics Office (GDAO) who are a central team within Bank of Ireland's Group Technology and Customer and Solution division. Our strategic goals are to:

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions (GTCS) division is responsible for the provision of organisational change, technology, information security, payments and card services across the Bank of Ireland.

What is the opportunity?

Purpose

Working with the senior manager in Group Data Management, you will contribute to our functional processes which are aligned to Group Data Standards and which support the BCBS 239 Programme in 2021.

The role holder will work closely with members of GDAO and other key partners across the group, including the BCBS 239 Programme and the Data Management Working Group (DMWG), to drive Data Management adoption and embed cultural change.

Group Data Management provides data-driven solutions to enhance business data management capabilities. These solutions will support key regulatory requirement for BCBS 239 and this role will support the new data management framework.

Key Accountabilities

Contribute to the GDM functions, including data lineage, profiling and quality. Build high quality data visualisations to provide business insights into data quality, profiling and lineage

Adopt new analytical tooling capabilities to support GDM functions. UAT testing and integration of new/existing analytical tools

Support management engagement with partners in response to business needs, and support the Groups strategy and values

Support analysis of Group data across multiple systems

Personal development by pursuing Analytics Institute Data Analyst cert.

Who are you?

Essential Qualifications

  • Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another field including a significant numerical element

Essential Skills & Experience

  • An analytical attitude with an inclination for problem-solving, is curious and inquisitive about data management principles
  • Good technical skills including working with large datasets, relational databases and experience with at least one of the following; SQL, Informatica (IDQ, AXON, Analyst) Data Advantage Group, Teradata, Tableau
  • Ability to respond well to change and maintain flexibility while keeping focus on objectives
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate outputs to peers and senior management

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in data management or other analytics roles
  • Previous experience with an agile environment and design thinking
  • The ability to challenge the status quo and support reengineering of process and use of data for business benefit
  • Understanding of process flow, data management, GDPR, data lineage and data quality concepts
  • Knowledge of R, Python and Cloudera platforms

This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland / Northern Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin/Belfast to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
